Show on Map Get Directions

Starting out in an alluvial fan, continue along into a creek bed until reaching a small waterfall or rock wall (depending on the creeks water levels). Here you will have to decide to climb over the rock (good foot & hand holds) or backtrack a short distance and wander up the right side and walk along the top.

Carrying on you will enter a very steep walled section of the creek bed. It’ll lead you to a dead end with sheer, rock walls over 25 ft high. Backing out of this canyon, you are able to go up the right side again and pass over this section. A distinguishable trail is visible in the ground at this point until eventually leading back to the creek bed.

Note: this trail is best done in the fall when water levels are low.

Difficulty: Moderately easy

Length: 4.6 km round trip

Directions: The trail head can be found 266 km northwest of Fort Nelson. Continue past the Muncho Lake viewpoint approximately 5 km. A good sized pullout / parking area can be found on the east side of the road and is distinguishable by large boulders outlining it.

This area is currently open, but please respect physical distancing requirements when using hiking trails and other areas throughout the Northern Rockies.
